These cute little creatures have conquered the hearts of dog fanciers all over the world. People are attracted by their tiny size and saucy expression. They are renowned for their brave and intrepid disposition, and when it comes to defending their territory, they seem to be ready to tear a lion into pieces. They tend to hate all other dogs except those of the same breed. These doggies are very protective around their loved ones and are intolerant of teasing; therefore, they should not be trusted with young children.

The breed is generally healthy and can live up to 17 years. It was developed in Mexico and is the only natural toy breed. A soft spot on the top of the head, or molera, is found in some dogs of this breed. A molera is considered to be the mark of purity and doesn’t mean any disorder. The characteristic feature of the breed is a short muzzle with large dark eyes and long erect ears. These dogs are excellent lap companions and apartment animals.
