Chihuahuas Rescues Pictures - Appearance
Chihuahuas are smaller than all other dogs and they are 6-9 inches high at the withers. Their weight ranges from 2 to 6 pounds. The head is cone-shaped and relatively big. Puppies have a soft area on top of the skull, which is termed 'molera'. It usually closes by adulthood, but in some cases the gap remains intact, which makes the dog extremely sensitive to head injuries. Ears are set wide apart and are held at a 45 degree angle in relation to the perpendicular axis. Eyes are round and dark. They are also set well apart.
The back is even. The length of the body slightly exceeds the height at the withers. Tail is curled and movable. Despite its miniature dimensions, the Chihuahua is sturdy and robust. Both hind and front legs are set well apart, which adds a strong, in a way Rottweiler-like streak to the body.
Chihuahuas Rescues Pictures - Temperament
Chihuahuas are remarkably cute, lively and energetic. They display their outstanding energy and activity through occasional apartment races from one corner to another. If you take a closer look at their behavior and dig deeper into their heart you will see that these miniature devils think themselves just as big as they are actually small.
These little characters are very faithful pets. They trust their owners implicitly and are worried if there is a stranger around. The presence of unfamiliar people or other dogs and animals makes them wary and alert. Chihuahuas are intolerant of alien dogs, especially those of other breeds. However, if the dog is correctly socialized or raised together with other animals, it may be unbelievably friendly and kind.
Chihuahuas may show aggression if teased; therefore children frequently get nipped. They are clannish and territorial and in a case whereby a stranger approaches the residence, Chihuahuas start barking and may even attempt to chase him or her away from the house.
